{Wedding Invitation} Art

So you spend all this time planning this beautiful day...and guess what...it turns out perfect! You receive your photos from the photographer and print lots of them hanging them all over your home to remember that glorious day...but what about the invitation? You purposely kept extras in order to preserve as a keepsake but what do you do with it now?

Well I debated for awhile (2 years to be exact!) on what to do with ours. I knew that I wanted to display it somehow in our home as a way for us to remember "our" day. I wanted something that would act as a piece of art that we could proudly display in our home forever as most of our wedding photos were slowly replaced by our child(ren's) photos (we are currently covered in Averee and LOVE it).

Here's what we got:

I think it turned out beautiful and we frequently get compliments on it when others visit our home. It is displayed in our foyer which I love because as you enter our home you are able to step back with us to where it (our family) all began.

The only supplies needed are your invitation, shadow box and pins (I like the ones that have pearls on them...I feel they are very bridal). For ours I included our cake topper which is the monogram you see. It is beautiful and I bought this one specifically so that it could be displayed. I decided to give it a 3D effect so I used the scrapbook squares that are used for 3D effects behind the letters and then secured with the pins. Simply rearrange the pieces until you are in love!

This is one of the easiest projects I have done and one of my most favorite! I actually plan to help a recently married friend create one for her home!

What are some ideas you have for displaying your wedding invitation? I would love to see photos! Michelle_thereallifemom (at)yahoo.com

  2. This is so great! I did something similar as a gift for a friend - I caught the bouquet at her wedding (how appropriate?) and I went home with her toss bouquet and garter... I put her bouquet, garter, ceremony program, invitation and our escort cards in a 12x12 shadow box and it looks sooo cool! I've yet to give it to them - I'll send you a picture! :)

  6. Fantastic Michelle! You're right. The extra copies of my wedding invitation are sitting in a box. I really loved how my invitations came out, so you think I'd have them on the wall by now (coming up on my 5th anniversary this year!).

I just liked to this post on the Facebook page for my blog!

  8. I wish I would have thought to do this with my invites. I don't even know where the left overs are. If I ever find them I might have to do this...that is if I ever get anything hung on my walls! I would love for you to link up to my Sew Crafty Saturday party & be sure to check out the two giveaways I have going on! One is an Adventure Date & the other is a $60 gift card to Cowgirl Heaven!

  9. I love it! Where did you find your shadow box? I've been looking for an idea for our invitation as well (4 years later hehehe) and this is so pretty! Plus I love the symbolism that you pointed out--about it being in the foyer, the entry to your home and the invitation being 'where it all started'--perfect!
