{Hair Detangler}: Make your own

So the girl has gorgeous hair....beautiful, long, perfect layers and oh so soft. But after a bath or after sleeping her hair typically looks like the image above. Combine that with a squirmy toddler and it is a recipe for disaster

I have thought about buying detangler at the store many times but I usually forget and then remember come bath time that I was supposed to make that oh so important purchase.

So I decided to make my own and do you want to know the best part about it? It was FREE! Yeah!

I had a left over spray bottle from a hair heat spray that I use for myself that just had a drop left in the bottom. I washed it out added a tablespoon of conditioner that I had in the bathroom and then filled it with water. The only work required was shaking the bottle and I think we can all agree that that doesn't exactly qualify as work :)

Let me just say it is amazing! The girl now sits still while I brush her hair and is no longer screaming  "AWWWW" when the brush gets stuck on a knot.

I love it so much for her I might even try spraying it on my hair!

Happy Detangling :)

{Puppy Love}

I belong to a facebook Mommy group and this week we shared photos of our children and their puppies. I thought it was such an adorable idea and thought I would share with you one of my favorite photos of Averee and her puppy.

Av and Bella have been BFF from day one. Bella couldn't wait to greet her when we came home from the hospital and they have literally been inserparable since. When we leave the house Averee continually asks about Bella and as soon as we pull in the driveway she begins to chant her name. I love this special bond that my "two girls" have! Happy Saturday!!!

{All in the Family}

Family.

I must say that I am blessed....very blessed. Growing up I knew that I was a part of something special. I have the most incredible family. Although I am an only child never once did I feel alone. With my amazing parents and incredible aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents I always had the love and support that I needed.

Imagine my surprise when my husband and I started dating and I first met his family and realized that they are super amazing too!

The only down side....a lot of our family lives ridiculously far away.

We had a nice little visit recently though and I thought I would share a couple of photos with you...a little glimpse into the life of the Real Life Mom. Nothing fancy, nothing exciting...just a day at the park!

It was such a perfect day and such a perfect way to spend some time with our family! Averee loved visiting with her Grandma and cousin....and so did we. It seems that these trips always pass by way to quickly but I cherish every moment. Every. Single. Moment.

{Reminisce}

Do you ever look back and remember what it used to be like to say....eat a meal without being interrupted or leave the house when you want to and not have it focused around nap time. How about cooking meals because you want to or just simply making a meal because it is your favorite not because it is the only thing your little one will eat. Or eating a meal and being done...never mind cleaning the high chair, cleaning the floor, cleaning the dishes, cleaning your child, pre-treating all the clothes involved, washing said clothes...And remember those times when you could take a nap just because you were tired and felt like it or even go to the restroom by yourself. Yeah....I remember those days.

Yes, I remember. But you want to know what else I remember? All these amazing times that I am having. I feel like a kid all over again (I'm just a lot more tired this time around!) I remember the sweet kisses my little lady leaves for me, the snuggles that she provides, the giggles.....oh the giggles! You know....I don't think you can ever quite be prepared for motherhood and I don't think you ever really believe that it wont be just perfect. But the great thing about motherhood is you get to make it your own. You get to help this little being learn to be part of this world. You get to teach them how to be a good person and how to love. And remember my favorite thing is the "imperfect"! If we were all perfect where would the fun be in that! Take advantage of these times we have, if you need help ask for it! We have all been through our own struggles and can all offer our advice or a helping hand. Through the screams of a wee one to the tantrums of a toddler...even if we can't do anything to fix it...I've always found comfort in knowing.....I'm not alone. Here's some of our memories from this week...Memories we will have forever...

Yes, I remember.....and I wouldn't trade these memories for the world!

{Fresh} Ones

{Babies are bits of stardust, blown from the hand of God.} ~Barretto

It is hard to believe how they start out...so tiny and new. There is something about them that is just so fresh! Their newness brings loved ones together to celebrate the miracle that they are.

This last week I have had the honor to meet two new and fresh miracles...pause as my heart skips a beat...

Meeting these two baby girls and snuggling them brought back so many memories of my wee one...It seems like just yesterday that God blessed us with our miracle...

Averee Ann
She stole my heart before she was even born....

The moment you get to hold your baby for the first time is probably the single most incredible experience in life. That moment showed me just what love is. I knew that our life would never be the same but I also knew that it would be SO much better because she was apart of it. Cherish these moments because they quicklypass but get excited because it gets better every single day! Thank you Averee Ann for being my treasure, my stardust...my beautiful gift from God!

Butterfly Kisses

Sometimes you day just does not go as planned. That was the start of my day. From the moment I woke up I knew I just simply had not slept enough.

Ughhhhh I thought to myself as I knew that I would be working tonight as well so my next time for sleep would be in, ummmm, about 26 hours from then.

So imagine my surprise when at 10:30 Miss A started rubbing her eyes....simply tired beyond belief ( I think we have hit a growth spurt which we will get into another time.) So I quickly got her into bed and then ran to my bed and jumped in (Don't worry...I was still in my jammies at 10:30 in the morning.) I tossed and I turned and I tossed some more. "You have got to be kidding me!" I yelled. I could not fall asleep. Before I knew it Miss A was awake and ready to play.

So I went and got her up, brought her to our living room, laid down on the floor and to my surprised she bent down and planted a big, sloppy, perfect little kiss on me. She proceeded to give me kisses on my forehead for at least 10 minutes. At that moment in time (which you will quickly realize I have these revelations a lot) I realized that the simple act of love can make your day soooo much better.

I also must say I am incredibly proud. Yeah yeah...I'm sure you are thinking it's not that big of a deal. All she did was give you a kiss. Well this is true but it is also true that we must be doing something right. She is learning how to love. She knows, already, that those kisses brighten my day. Not only did they make me happy but they also put a big smile on her face. And the way I see it, if she learns nothing else in life but how to love then we have succeeded. Because that is what life really is all about in the end right?

Any sweet stories to share? I'd love to hear!
